Noida authorities are preparing to strengthen the city’s security infrastructure with the installation of emergency buttons at 147 locations to enable residents to quickly alert police and administrative authorities during emergencies.

The project also includes the installation of Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards at 20 major locations across the city. These boards will provide real-time information related to traffic, weather, accidents and security alerts.

The Noida Authority and the police administration are jointly working on the project. Officials said the plan is aimed at developing the city into a “safe and smart city”.

Under the project, 13 police stations in Noida will be connected through modern technology systems. Digital monitoring systems, high-tech communication facilities and smart control features will be developed at these police stations.

Officials said emergency buttons will be installed at public places, markets, crowded areas and sensitive locations. Alerts will be sent directly to the control room when the buttons are activated during an incident or emergency.

Police officials said the system is expected to strengthen security for women, senior citizens and the general public, while also improving crime control and police response time.

The Variable Message Sign boards will display information related to traffic congestion, diversions, weather alerts and emergency messages, allowing residents to receive real-time updates.

Police said the use of modern technology would also improve surveillance of criminal activities and make investigation procedures more effective.

Local residents have welcomed the project, stating that a high-tech security system is necessary for a rapidly expanding city.

The project has also generated discussion on social media, where several users described it as an important step for women’s safety and smart traffic management.

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh are working on technology-based projects to make several cities smarter and safer, with Noida being developed as a key model city under the initiative.

Experts said technologies such as CCTV networks, emergency alert systems and smart control rooms play an important role in crime prevention and rapid emergency response.

The administration is currently expediting the implementation process, and work on these facilities is expected to begin in the coming period.
