North Korea Rejects South Korea's Peace Talks Offer, Kim Yo Jong Declares

Kim Yo Jong, a senior leader of North Korea, has rejected South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's offer of peace talks. She stated that North Korea has no interest in any proposals or negotiations.

World: North Korea has once again made it clear that it has no interest in any kind of dialogue with South Korea. This response comes after the new South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's government proposed peace talks to North Korea, initiating an effort to improve relations. However, this initiative has been completely rejected by North Korea.

Kim Yo Jong's Strong Statement

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and a senior official, issued an official statement on Monday. She stated that North Korea has no interest in any kind of proposal from South Korea. Her words were: “Regardless of which government is in power in South Korea, and whatever policies or proposals they bring, North Korea has no need to meet with them, no need to talk to them, and there is no issue to discuss.”

Harsh Stance Towards Both the US and South Korea

Kim Yo Jong's comments indicate that North Korea does not foresee the possibility of any diplomatic negotiations with its traditional adversaries, South Korea and the United States, in the near future. This stance is stricter and more explicit than ever before. Tensions have long existed between the two countries, and despite South Korea's efforts on several occasions, North Korea has not been willing to engage in dialogue.

North Korea's Priority is Now Russia

According to diplomatic experts, North Korea's strategic priority is currently to strengthen its relations with Russia. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, North Korea has increased its cooperation with Russia. This cooperation has emerged in areas such as defense deals, technical support, and political alliances. Experts believe that if this relationship with Russia weakens in the future, North Korea may change its foreign policy.

This is the First Official Response to Lee Jae-myung's Initiative

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung assumed office in June 2025. After becoming president, he expressed his desire to improve relations with North Korea and prepared some strategic proposals for this purpose. Kim Yo Jong's statement is the first official response from North Korea to his initiative, and it has been completely negative.
