Novak Djokovic has achieved a feat in the world of tennis at the age of 38, which was previously impossible for any legendary player. Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles in his career so far, is currently playing in the Shanghai Masters.

SPORTS NEWS: Tennis legend Novak Djokovic achieved a historic milestone at the ATP Masters 1000 events in the Shanghai Open. At the age of 38, he accomplished a feat that was previously unachievable for any male player. Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles to date, and his recent victory at the Shanghai Masters has made him the first male player to win 40 or more matches in six different ATP Masters 1000 events.

Djokovic's 40th Win at Shanghai Masters

Djokovic secured a straight-sets victory against Marin Cilic in the Round of 64. He won the first set 7-6 (7-2) and the second set 6-4, directly advancing to the Round of 32. This win marked Djokovic's 40th victory at the Shanghai Masters. Prior to this, he has also demonstrated excellent performance in other Masters 1000 events:

  • Rome Masters: 68 wins
  • Indian Wells Masters: 51 wins
  • Paris Masters: 50 wins
  • Miami Masters: 49 wins
  • Cincinnati Masters: 45 wins

Thus, Djokovic has set a new record by continuing his consistently high-level performance in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

Djokovic's Reaction After the Win

After his victory against Cilic at the Shanghai Masters, Djokovic stated that he is still struggling to find his form and rhythm. He mentioned, "I haven't played well in some matches. My last match was at the US Open, so this first match against Marin was quite challenging. He kept me under constant pressure, but I managed to push through using my serve and experience."

Djokovic also added that his team and coaching staff prepared him mentally and technically, enabling him to secure a win against a challenging player like Cilic. This record of Djokovic's is significant because no other male player has achieved the feat of 40+ wins in six different tournaments within the ATP Masters 1000.
