All three A-grade terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam killings of innocents in Jammu and Kashmir were killed in Operation Mahadev. Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha about this and also criticized the opposition.
Amit Shah: During the Monsoon session of Parliament on Monday, Home Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha about a significant counter-terrorism operation, "Operation Mahadev," in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that all three terrorists involved in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam were killed in a joint operation. According to the Home Minister, the operation was conducted jointly by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Murders Committed After Ascertaining Religion
The Home Minister told the Lok Sabha that the terrorists had targeted innocent civilians in Pahalgam. He said that these people were identified based on their religion and brutally murdered in front of their families. Describing this incident as "the height of barbarity," he expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. Amit Shah said that the government and security agencies took this attack very seriously and immediate action was taken.
Full Details of Operation Mahadev
According to the Home Minister, the search and identification of the terrorists was carried out based on intelligence agencies and local information. The names of the terrorists killed during the operation are - Suleiman alias Faizal, Afghan, and Jibran. All three terrorists were associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and were considered A-grade category terrorists.
Of these, Suleiman was an A-grade commander of Lashkar, while Afghan and Jibran were also highly trained terrorists. All three were hiding in the Baisaran Valley and from there they attacked Pahalgam.
Action Taken After Complete Identification
Amit Shah said that the security agencies took action against the terrorists only after complete confirmation. First, those who were providing food and other assistance to the terrorists were taken into custody. When these people identified the bodies, it was confirmed that these were the same terrorists who had killed innocent civilians in Pahalgam.
Four independent witnesses identified the terrorists. In addition, the investigation of the weapons and cartridges recovered from the terrorists also made it clear that they were the ones who carried out the attack.
Targeting the Opposition
In the Lok Sabha, the Home Minister also raised questions on the opposition parties. He said that he had hoped that when the enemies of the country were eliminated, the opposition would support it. But unfortunately, the opposition is questioning even this.
He objected to the statement of Congress leader and former Home Minister P. Chidambaram, in which he had asked for evidence of the terrorists coming from Pakistan. Amit Shah asked whether Congress is trying to protect Pakistan? He reiterated that these terrorists had come from Pakistan and the security agencies have evidence of this.
"We Killed Those Who Committed the Murders"
Amit Shah informed that he himself had gone to Pahalgam and met the victim families. He said that he met a woman who had been widowed just six days after her marriage. He described it as a very painful experience and said that the country stands with such innocent people.
Zero Tolerance Policy on Terrorism
The Home Minister said that the policy of the Government of India is absolutely clear against terrorism – zero tolerance. He said that no terrorist, whether inside the country or across the border, will be spared. He also reiterated that the government is committed to the safety of every citizen and all kinds of assistance is being given to the security forces in this direction.
