Shubman Gill Close to History, Just 11 Runs Away From Gavaskar's Record
Indian captain Shubman Gill is delivering a historic performance in this series. He has scored 722 runs in four matches so far, including 4 centuries and two half-centuries. If he scores just 11 more runs in the fifth Test, he will become the Indian captain with the most runs in a Test series. Currently, this record is held by Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 732 runs against the West Indies in 1978-79. If Gill surpasses this figure, he will set a new precedent in Test history.
This series has been quite challenging for the bowlers so far. Despite the rain and clouds, the batsmen haven't missed any opportunities to score runs. For England, Ben Stokes delivered an all-round performance by scoring a century and taking 5 wickets in a Test. From the Indian bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav bowled some impressive spells, but they couldn't completely stop the batsmen's onslaught.
