South Africa defeated West Indies by nine wickets in the T20 World Cup Super Eight match to strengthen their position for the semi-finals. Captain Aiden Markram remained unbeaten with a half-century as South Africa completed the chase comfortably.
South Africa registered their second consecutive win in the Super Eight stage. West Indies, batting first, scored 176 for eight in 20 overs.
West Indies posted 176 for eight after opting to bat. Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder added 89 runs for the eighth wicket off 57 balls to lift the total. Shepherd remained unbeaten on 52 off 37 balls, including three fours and four sixes, while Holder scored 49 off 31 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Among the other batters, Brandon King scored 21, Shai Hope made 16, Sherfane Rutherford scored 12 and Matthew Forde added 11. Rovman Powell made 9, Shimron Hetmyer scored 2 and Roston Chase made 2.
In reply, South Africa reached 177 for one in 16.1 overs. Markram and Quinton de Kock put on 95 runs for the first wicket. De Kock scored 47 off 24 balls, including four fours and four sixes.
Markram then added an unbroken stand with Ryan Rickelton to complete the chase. Markram remained unbeaten on 82 off 46 balls, while Rickelton scored 45 off 28 balls as South Africa secured victory with 23 balls remaining.
Lungi Ngidi took three wickets for South Africa. Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch claimed two wickets each.
