In the Sultani area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terrorists attacked a Pakistani army convoy with an IED, killing six soldiers, including a captain. In retaliation, the army eliminated seven terrorists, and a search operation is ongoing.

Pakistan: Terrorists launched a fierce attack on an army convoy on Wednesday in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attack occurred in the Sultani area, located near the Afghan border. At least six Pakistani soldiers, including a captain, were killed in the assault. The army's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the incident. It was reported that the attack was carried out through an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast, which caused extensive damage to the army vehicle.

Chaos after IED blast

According to local media reports, the army convoy was on a routine patrol when an IED planted by the roadside exploded. The sound of the blast was heard several kilometers away. The explosion was so powerful that the army vehicle was torn to pieces. Troops stationed at the scene immediately cordoned off the area, and the injured were admitted to a nearby military hospital.

Six Soldiers Martyred, Including a Captain

ISPR stated that six soldiers, including an army captain, died in the attack. The identities of the deceased have not yet been made public to allow their families to be officially informed first. The army affirmed that the sacrifice of the soldiers who lost their lives in the defense of the country would not be in vain.

Army's Retaliation After the Attack

Immediately after the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. The army reported that seven terrorists were killed in the retaliatory action. During the operation, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists' hideouts. The army stated that a comprehensive search operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any escaped terrorists.

Increased Terrorist Activities Near Afghan Border

The Sultani area is part of the Kurram tribal district, located near the Afghan border. This region has long been considered a hub for terrorist activities. The Taliban and its associated groups are active in this area. Security agencies state that infiltration incidents from Afghanistan have increased in recent months, leading to renewed instability in Pakistan's border regions.

Recent Attack on Police Post

Just a few days before this attack, terrorists launched a night assault on the Tor Chappur police post in the Darra Adam Khel area of Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In that incident, one police officer was killed, and a paramilitary soldier was injured. Following that attack, security forces also conducted a search operation in the region. The continuously escalating attacks have raised questions about Pakistan's security arrangements.

Previous Such Attacks

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is considered one of Pakistan's most unstable regions. Security forces have been attacked here multiple times previously. Recently, unidentified gunmen attacked a 'Frontier Corps' vehicle. In that incident, one soldier was killed while another was seriously injured. This attack occurred in Bannu district, which borders North Waziristan.
