Panipat: The theft at the home of handloom businessman Omprakash Kataria in Sector-12 of Panipat district, Haryana, has created a stir in the area. Taking advantage of the darkness of night, thieves broke into the house and stole approximately 2.5 million rupees in cash and over 55 tolas of gold jewelry. Upon receiving information about the theft, the police arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter.
Thieves Entered Through the Roof
According to the police, on Sunday night, thieves gained entry through the roof of the house and fled with the cash and gold jewelry kept inside. When the family returned home in the morning and opened the locker, they found approximately 2.5 million rupees in cash and 55 tolas of gold jewelry missing. DSP Headquarters Satish Vats stated that the family was out of Panipat to attend an event, which provided the thieves with an opportunity.
As soon as the incident was reported, teams from Chandnibagh Police Station and CIA promptly arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the thieves used a vacant plot behind the house to gain entry and commit the theft.
Investigation Ongoing with CCTV Footage and Witnesses
The police inspected the crime scene, and CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being reviewed. Neighbors and local residents are also being questioned. Police stated that the incident appears to have been carried out professionally. Furthermore, the police have formed several teams to identify and quickly apprehend the thieves.
Omprakash Kataria stated that he discovered the theft upon returning home and was in shock. He immediately went to the police station to file a theft report. The police are currently working to recover the stolen cash and gold.

DSP Satish Vats said that vigilance has been increased and patrolling intensified in the area following the theft. The police's objective is to apprehend the thieves as soon as possible and recover the stolen property. He urged citizens to also exercise caution and report any suspicious activities to the police.
The police are investigating the entire case from all angles and hope that the thieves will be arrested and the case solved within a few days. Currently, this incident in Panipat has created a situation of fear and concern among the residents.
