Patna Metro services have been extended to Malahi Pakdi, providing a faster public transport option for commuters in eastern Patna. Passengers will be able to cover the 6.2-kilometre stretch in approximately 15 minutes, with the expansion expected to improve daily commuting and reduce pressure on road traffic.

According to the Metro administration, the fare from Malahi Pakdi to ISBT has been fixed at ₹30. Metro services on this route will initially operate at intervals of 35 minutes. Officials said the limited frequency has been introduced during the initial phase of operations and may be increased in the future based on passenger demand and operational experience. Train frequency and service intervals will be reviewed after regular operations begin.

The extension is expected to benefit residents of Malahi Pakdi, Zero Mile, ISBT and nearby areas. Office-goers, students, businesspersons and other commuters will have access to a faster and more time-bound mode of transport, reducing dependence on private vehicles.

The Metro administration has clarified that trains will not stop at Khemnichak station for the time being. Although Metro trains will pass through the station, passenger boarding and alighting facilities will not be available. Officials said regular stoppage at Khemnichak station will be considered only after the completion of the required technical and operational work.

Passenger facilities at Metro stations include ticket counters, an Automatic Fare Collection System, security screening, CCTV surveillance, escalators, lifts and accessibility features for persons with disabilities. Security personnel have been deployed at every station, and passengers are allowed onto platforms only after security checks. Facilities such as cleanliness, drinking water and passenger information systems have also been provided.

Experts said the Metro expansion is expected to support the city's economic and social development alongside improving urban mobility. They said better public transport could help reduce pollution, save fuel and lower the risk of road accidents. The Metro corridor may also encourage commercial activity and real estate development in surrounding areas.

Regular commuters have welcomed the Metro extension. They said that increasing train frequency and expanding the network to additional parts of the city in the future would further improve Patna's public transport system. Several passengers also called for an early commencement of train stoppages at Khemnichak station to extend direct connectivity to nearby residents.

With Metro services now operational up to Malahi Pakdi, the Patna Metro network has been expanded. The 6.2-kilometre journey can be completed in approximately 15 minutes, the fare to ISBT has been fixed at ₹30, and Metro services are currently available every 35 minutes. Officials said future network expansion and an increase in train services may be considered over time.
