Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his best wishes to the team at Skyroot Aerospace ahead of the proposed launch of the privately developed Vikram-1 orbital launch vehicle from Sriharikota under Mission Aagman.
The proposed launch is being viewed as an important milestone for India's rapidly expanding private space sector. The Prime Minister described the mission as a new chapter in India's space journey and said it reflects the talent, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the country's youth.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi said the proposed Saturday morning launch marks a significant milestone in the journey of India's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle. According to the Prime Minister, the four-stage Vikram-1 rocket has been developed to provide responsive and on-demand launch services. He said the mission represents the talent, determination and entrepreneurial spirit of India's youth.
The Prime Minister also said that reforms in the space sector have opened opportunities for innovation and new businesses for private companies. Wishing the Skyroot Aerospace team success for the mission, he expressed hope that Vikram-1 would reach new heights and inspire future generations of innovators. Modi also urged citizens, particularly young people, to follow the mission and encourage the Skyroot team.
Vikram-1 is being positioned as an orbital launch vehicle developed by India's private sector with the objective of providing launch services for small and medium-sized satellites into Earth orbit. Since India's space sector was opened to private companies, several startups have accelerated their activities in the field. In this context, the Vikram-1 mission is being regarded as an important step in demonstrating the technological capabilities and commercial potential of India's private space industry.

Among the vehicle's technical features is its Orbital Adjustment Module, which is powered by a 3D-printed liquid engine. The technology is considered an important step toward making rocket manufacturing more modern and efficient. Skyroot Aerospace has said the mission is intended to demonstrate the company's indigenous launch technology and its capability to conduct orbital missions.
Mission Aagman is being presented as Skyroot Aerospace's first orbital test flight. Its success could mark an important achievement for India's private space industry. If the mission achieves its planned objectives, it is expected to support investment and technological development in private rocket manufacturing and commercial launch services in India.
The mission also includes an artistic payload named "Cosmic Bloom," a laboratory-grown diamond that is planned to be placed into orbit as a special artistic payload. In addition, the mission carries a small gold-coloured rocket along with miniature representations of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Sir C. V. Raman and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The payload is intended to symbolically represent India's scientific heritage and the journey of its space programme.
Information shared about the mission also states that a card carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message of good wishes and "Vande Mataram" will be sent with the mission. The card also includes messages of support received from people around the world.
