Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting via video conferencing with Chief Ministers of all states and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories to review preparedness in light of recent developments in West Asia and their potential impact on India.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister discussed recent global developments and their possible implications for the country. He expressed confidence that by working together as “Team India,” the country would successfully navigate the situation.
The Prime Minister called on states to strengthen supply chains and take strict action against activities such as hoarding and profiteering. He said control rooms should be activated across all states and Union Territories and administrative vigilance maintained to ensure timely availability of essential goods.
Review of Situation in West Asia and Preparedness
The Prime Minister emphasised preparedness and vigilance amid rising tensions in West Asia. He cited coordination between the Centre and states during the COVID-19 pandemic as an example of effective collaboration that ensured stability in supply chains and trade. He said maintaining the same approach remains a key strength in the current situation.
He stated that as the situation continues to evolve, daily monitoring by the inter-ministerial group and timely decision-making are essential. Government priorities include economic stability, energy security, protection of citizens’ interests, and strengthening of industry and supply chains.

Supply Chain and Citizen Safety Measures
The Prime Minister directed states to ensure advance monitoring of the agriculture sector, particularly fertiliser storage and distribution, to prevent any disruption for farmers during the upcoming kharif season. He emphasised the need to avoid rumours and misinformation, stating that timely dissemination of accurate and reliable information would help prevent panic.
He also advised citizens to remain cautious about online fraud and fake agents. States with borders and coastal areas were asked to pay special attention to challenges related to shipping, essential supplies, and maritime operations.
Support for Indian Citizens in West Asia
The Prime Minister said states with citizens residing in West Asia should establish helplines and appoint nodal officers. District-level support systems should be created to assist affected families and provide timely information.
He expressed confidence that the strengthening of India’s economy and supply chains in recent years would support the country in the current situation. The Prime Minister also urged states to accelerate initiatives such as biofuel, solar energy, the Gobardhan scheme, and electric mobility. He emphasised the need to expand domestic exploration of oil and natural gas and extend pipeline connectivity.
The Prime Minister said the challenge requires collective responsibility and reiterated that working together as “Team India” would enable the country to overcome the situation successfully.
