Rajasthan High Court Cancels SI Recruitment 2021 Due to Widespread Malpractice; Posts to be Re-added for 2025 with Overage Candidate Inclusion

The Rajasthan High Court has cancelled the SI Recruitment 2021. The 859 posts will be added to the 2025 recruitment. Overage candidates will also be able to apply. SOG investigation revealed large-scale cheating in the examination.

Rajasthan SI: The Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination conducted in Rajasthan on September 13, 14, and 15, 2021, has now been cancelled. This decision has been delivered by the Rajasthan High Court. Several candidates had complained that the paper was leaked in this examination held at 802 exam centers across 11 districts. The gravity of the matter came to light after screenshots and videos went viral on social media. Following the High Court's inquiry and the SOG's report, it was concluded that there was widespread malpractice in the examination. Now, the 859 posts from this cancelled examination will be added to the upcoming 2025 recruitment.

Overage Candidates to be Included

The High Court has also directed that overage candidates who were eligible for the 2021 recruitment can also apply for the new 2025 recruitment. This means that many candidates who have crossed the age limit will now get the benefit of this opportunity. Prior to this, candidates who appeared for the 2021 examination had protested at several places and demanded justice.

Full Case of the 2021 Recruitment Examination

In the year 2021, the Rajasthan Police conducted a recruitment examination for 859 Sub-Inspector posts. The paper had reached the hands of touts even before the examination. The investigation by the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) revealed that several dummy candidates involved in the examination were complicit. 51 selected candidates, including topper Naresh Khileri, were arrested and suspended. Furthermore, the examination center superintendent and principal were also arrested.

First Petition and Initial Investigation

The first petition regarding this recruitment examination was filed on August 13, 2021. In the initial investigation, evidence of cheating by only 68 candidates came to light. Based on this, the entire examination was not cancelled at that time. Meanwhile, many candidates protested in the High Court, stating that they had taken the exam honestly and had resigned from other government jobs to participate.

SIT Investigation and Conspiracy Disclosure

In the year 2023, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the recruitment examination. During the investigation, the list of dummy candidates kept getting longer. Along with this, it also emerged that the principal of Shanti Nagar Bal Bharti School and the examination center superintendent were involved in collusion. More than 50 candidates and related officials were arrested in this case.

Role of the State Government and the Court

The state government initially did not take any final decision on this matter. Although the SOG, Police Headquarters, and the Cabinet Committee had recommended cancelling this recruitment, the state government did not take action. Following this, the Rajasthan High Court ordered a final decision by May 26, 2025, and clarified that if the government did not make a decision on time, the court itself would decide the matter.

Changes in 2025 Recruitment and Guidelines for Candidates

Now, the 859 posts from the cancelled 2021 examination will be included in the upcoming 2025 SI recruitment. This will increase the total number of seats in the recruitment. As per the High Court's directive, overage candidates will also be eligible to apply for the new applications. All interested candidates will have to apply on the official website.
