Amidst the continuous rainfall in Rajasthan, the state government has taken a serious note of the dilapidated condition of school buildings. Education Minister Madan Dilawar has issued a major statement regarding the safety of schools, giving clear instructions to immediately seal and lock any school buildings or classrooms that are in a dilapidated and dangerous condition. If necessary, schools should be declared closed, but at no cost should the lives of children be put at risk.
Deteriorating Conditions Due to Heavy Rainfall
Due to torrential rains in several districts of Rajasthan, rivers and streams are overflowing, and waterlogging has occurred in many villages. In such a situation, the possibility of water entering school buildings has also increased. The Education Minister stated that rainwater has entered homes in many areas, so it is possible that some schools have also been affected. He has instructed officials and school management to understand the seriousness of the situation and take immediate action.
Locks on Dilapidated Rooms
Education Minister Madan Dilawar has strictly instructed teachers that no students or staff should be allowed to enter any classroom or building that is in a dilapidated condition. Such rooms should be sealed immediately, marked with a red cross, and locked. If the entire building of a small school appears unsafe, a holiday can be declared after informing the competent authority over the phone. The Minister said that it is better to endure a little inconvenience than to risk any kind of accident.
Government Has Already Provided Financial Assistance for Building Repairs
The Education Minister informed that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has already released financial assistance for the repair of school buildings. He said that the Chief Minister, showing generosity, has provided the necessary funds for the repair of schools, so that no school remains in a dilapidated condition in the future. The state government is engaged in improving school infrastructure on a priority basis.
Complete Inspection Before Schools Reopen
Madan Dilawar also advised the school administration that even though schools are closed, it is mandatory to exercise full vigilance. He said that when schools reopen after the holidays, each building should be carefully inspected before seating students in it. If a building is not safe, it should be kept completely closed and students should not be allowed to enter.
