Rajasthan Village Protests Teacher Arrest Delay After Alleged Rape

There is widespread public anger in Rajasthan’s Jalore district over the delay in the arrest of a teacher accused of raping a minor girl. On Tuesday, hundreds of villagers from 12 villages linked to the Bagra police station area in Jalore district marched to the district headquarters, staging a b demonstration. The protesters demanded pressure on the administration to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused teacher.

The protesters warned the administration that if no action was taken within 24 hours, they would initiate an indefinite sit-in protest starting on June 26th.

Four Months of Exploitation; Case Registered June 18th

According to the victim’s family, the government teacher from the village had been inviting the minor girl home under the pretext of making roti and forcing himself on her over the past four months.

On June 18th, when the teacher visited the victim’s house and attempted to force himself on her again, the family members arrived after hearing her cries. Seeing themselves cornered, the accused fled the scene.

The family filed a complaint at the Bagra police station that same night, following which the police registered a case on June 19th. However, even after a week, the accused has not yet been arrested.

Rural Fury Erupts

Participants in the protest alleged that the accused has connections with influential local figures, who are attempting to influence witnesses and evidence.

The villagers stated that due to the administration’s indifference, the victim has not yet received justice. The protest was attended by a large number of women, youth, and senior citizens of the community.

All participants unitedly demanded a fair investigation and the immediate arrest of the accused.

Police Claim

The police claim that special teams have been formed to arrest the accused, and are conducting surveillance at potential locations. However, the accused remains at large.

Meanwhile, the district administration has also been put on alert following the protest. Officials are engaged in communicating with the people and attempting to resolve the situation peacefully to prevent disruption of law and order.

This case is not only a serious crime but also raises questions about the administration’s action. If no prompt steps are taken, this protest could escalate into a large-scale public movement. The villagers demand that the accused teacher be arrested immediately and the victim be provided with justice.
