Iran Executes Three Over Alleged Ties to Israel’s Mossad, Arrests 700
Despite a recent ceasefire, tensions remain high between Iran and Israel. In a significant move, Iran has executed three individuals accused of espionage and plotting assassinations linked to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. Furthermore, over 700 people have been arrested following the recent 12-day conflict, with Iranian authorities claiming they were part of a network engaged in intelligence activities against the country.
Death Sentences Imposed
According to a statement released by the Iranian government, the three executed individuals – Ebrahim Ali, Azad Shojai, and Rasul Ahmad Rasul – were convicted of attempting to smuggle equipment used in assassinations into Iran. A trial was held, and they received death sentences, which were carried out early Wednesday morning in the northwestern Iranian city of Urmia.
Executions in Urmia
Urmia is located near the border with Turkey and is considered one of Iran’s sensitive regions. Following the executions, Iranian media released photographs of the three accused in prison uniforms. This is not the first time Iran has handed down death sentences for alleged espionage activities linked to Israel. Previous cases have also resulted in executions.
Allegations of Ties to Israeli Mossad
Iran alleges that the three executed individuals were working for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. They are accused of leaking sensitive military information and involvement in plans for targeted killings. Iranian intelligence agencies conducted a special investigation leading to their arrest.
700 Arrests During 12-Day Conflict
According to reports from the Iranian state-run news agency ‘Nur News,’ within the 12 days of the conflict between Iran and Israel, which began on June 13, 2025, security agencies arrested over 700 individuals. These individuals are accused of maintaining contact with Israel, engaging in espionage, participating in anti-national activities during wartime, and assisting the Israeli army through internal networks.
Previous Executions Following Conflict Initiation
Iran has stated that it will not spare any network or individual working for Israel. In line with this, several other accused individuals were executed on Sunday and Monday. The government has indicated that those who fail to cooperate with investigations will face severe penalties.
Iranian officials state that interrogations are currently underway with the detained individuals, all of whom are accused of compromising national security and engaging in espionage for foreign forces. The government anticipates that many more individuals will be brought before the courts and sentenced if found guilty.
