RCB Announces Compensation for Families of Stampede Victims

Three months after the Bengaluru stadium stampede that occurred during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, the franchise has announced compensation for the families of the deceased.

Bengaluru Stampede 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the Indian Premier League 2025 title. In the final played on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB ended their trophy drought by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs. This was RCB's first trophy in their 18th season of the IPL.

Following this, the franchise celebrated their victory on June 4 at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, but during this time, a stampede outside the stadium resulted in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to many. RCB has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh each for the families of the deceased.

Stampede Incident

In the IPL 2025 final match played on June 3, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs to win the trophy. This was RCB's first trophy in their 18th season. A day later, on June 4, the victory celebration was held at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. During the celebration, a sudden stampede occurred outside the stadium, in which 11 people lost their lives and many were injured. RCB expressed deep condolences regarding this incident and assured their sympathy and support to the families of the deceased.

RCB's Official Statement

RCB wrote on their official social media handle: Our hearts were broken on June 4, 2025. We lost 11 members of the RCB family. They were all a part of us. They were part of what makes our city, our community, and our team unique. Their absence will always be felt.

The franchise further stated, "The void left by their departure cannot be completely filled by anything." As a first step and with deep respect, RCB has provided financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh each to their families. This is not just financial aid but also a promise of compassion, solidarity, and continued care.
