In June 2021, she was made the state president of TMC Youth Congress. Prior to this, this post was held by prominent party leader Abhishek Banerjee.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, TMC gave Saayoni Ghosh a ticket from the Jadavpur seat. This is the same seat from where Mamata Banerjee herself won in 1984. Mimi Chakraborty was the MP from this seat before, who resigned before the 2024 elections. Saayoni prioritized door-to-door campaigning and personal contact instead of traditional campaigning. This trustworthy image helped her establish a deep connection with the voters and she emerged victorious with 717,899 votes. She defeated BJP's Dr. Anirban Ganguly by a large margin of 258,201 votes. CPI(M)'s Srijan Bhattacharya was third.
