Security Breach During President Murmu's Deoghar Visit Sparks Controversy

Serious Security Lapse During President Droupadi Murmu's Deoghar Visit; BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Accuses Jharkhand Police of Negligence, Demands Independent Inquiry.

Jharkhand: A significant security breach has come to light during President Droupadi Murmu's recent visit to Deoghar, Jharkhand. BJP MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey has raised serious questions regarding this incident, putting the state's police system under scrutiny.

What happened in Deoghar?

President Murmu visited Deoghar on Thursday to attend the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS. During this time, confusion arose regarding the route of her convoy. It is reported that the President traveled via an alternate route instead of the designated one, while the security convoy proceeded on a different path. It was stated that any deviation from the prescribed route for a VIP, especially the President of the country, is unacceptable from a security standpoint.

MP Dubey Reacts Strongly

BJP MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey from Deoghar has expressed his displeasure regarding the incident. Posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "The President of India had come to Deoghar, but the Jharkhand Police committed a grave security lapse. This is what will happen when there are officers like the illegal Director General of Police and a Superintendent of Police involved in partisanship."

Dubey's statement is also noteworthy because he termed Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta "illegal," while he is a 1990 batch IPS officer who was duly appointed as DGP in February 2025.

Concerns Over Public Safety

MP Dubey questioned how safe ordinary citizens are when such a significant lapse can occur in the security of a person holding the highest office like the President. He stated that this is not just an administrative error but a serious question on public safety and the state's law and order situation.

Political Rhetoric Intensifies

This issue has also sparked political heat. Many users and leaders supporting the BJP have reacted on X. Some described it as evidence of the deteriorating law and order situation in Congress-ruled Jharkhand, while others labeled it as playing with the President's security.

On the other hand, opposition parties have also retaliated against the BJP. They questioned whether the security arrangements are perfect in BJP-ruled states. Some criticized the BJP by citing examples from Bihar and other states.

Police Silence and Questions

So far, there has been no formal response from the Jharkhand Police or administration regarding the incident. It has also not been clarified why the President's route was changed and whether it was part of the security protocol or due to negligence.

Notably, President Murmu also visited Deoghar in June 2025, during which tight security arrangements were made. At that time, the local administration had exercised special vigilance, and no lapse was reported. However, this time's incident has raised questions about the working methods of the officials.
