After the match, Sourav Ganguly, President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and former Indian captain, visited Shubman Gill at Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital in Kolkata. According to news agency PTI, Ganguly inquired about his health and discussed his condition with the doctors. Gill was discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning. However, he is not yet fully fit and will not participate in the team's onward journey. Team India will depart for Guwahati on Tuesday, where the second Test match is scheduled to be played from November 22. Currently, uncertainty surrounds Gill's participation in this match.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the BCCI medical panel and a sports medicine specialist, conducted a detailed examination of Shubman Gill's MRI and other medical reports. The review confirmed that he has an "inter-spinous ligament injury," which occurs due to excessive pressure or twisting on the ligament located between the vertebrae of the neck. According to specialists, this injury requires special care and rest.

Doctors have advised Gill to take complete rest for 48 to 72 hours, along with medication and caution in neck movements. Currently, he is resting under the supervision of the medical staff at the team hotel. He will be re-examined after approximately two days, following which a final decision will be made regarding his availability for the second Test.
