Shubman Gill created history with a record-breaking double century in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. The Indian captain completed his double century in just 117 balls, becoming the fastest batter to score a double century in ODI cricket.
Gill batted aggressively while chasing a target of 406 runs set by the West Indies. He put the Caribbean bowlers under pressure from the outset and continued to find boundaries. The Indian captain completed his century in 62 balls and reached 150 runs in 89 balls.
Shubman Gill completed 200 runs in 117 balls, setting the record for the fastest double century in ODI history. The previous record was held by Ishan Kishan, who scored a double century in 126 balls against Bangladesh in 2022. Australia's Glenn Maxwell completed his double century in 128 balls, while Pathum Nissanka and Chris Gayle reached the mark in 136 and 138 balls, respectively.
Gill now leads the list of batters with the fastest ODI double centuries, followed by Ishan Kishan, Glenn Maxwell, Pathum Nissanka and Chris Gayle.

The Guwahati innings was the second double century of Shubman Gill's ODI career. He had previously scored 200 runs against New Zealand in Hyderabad in January 2023.
With this achievement, Gill became the second batter in the world to score two or more double centuries in ODI cricket. India's Rohit Sharma remains ahead of him with three ODI double centuries. Rohit achieved the feat in separate matches against Australia and Sri Lanka.
Gill also set another record after reaching 202 runs. He recorded the highest individual score in an ODI while chasing a target. The previous record belonged to Australia's Glenn Maxwell, who scored an unbeaten 201.
India got off to a b start in the chase as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma put together a 255-run opening partnership. It was the second-highest partnership by an Indian opening pair in ODI cricket.
Rohit Sharma also scored a century, making 101 runs from 75 balls. After Rohit was dismissed, Gill continued his aggressive batting and kept the West Indies bowlers under pressure.
Virat Kohli then joined Gill at the crease and the pair added 65 runs from 35 balls. Kohli scored 29 runs from 19 balls before being dismissed while attempting a big shot. Sherfane Rutherford took the catch.
