A sudden change in weather brought b winds and heavy rain across Muzaffarpur, disrupting normal life after a day of intense heat and humidity. Dark clouds gathered by evening, followed by heavy rainfall and gusty winds that halted movement on roads and created panic in several areas.
The Saraiya area recorded the most severe impact, where b wind gusts uprooted a large tree that fell onto a house, damaging a significant portion of the structure. Family members were inside at the time of the incident but did not sustain serious injuries. Local residents reached the site and began relief efforts.
In the Kurhani area, b winds caused an electricity pole to collapse onto a road, disrupting power supply in nearby areas. The fallen pole obstructed traffic, leading to a prolonged traffic jam and forcing commuters to take alternative routes.
The impact of the storm extended beyond these locations, with incidents of uprooted trees, damaged tin sheds, and snapped power lines reported in multiple parts of the district. Several neighbourhoods experienced prolonged power outages, causing inconvenience, particularly during nighttime.
Conditions were more severe in rural areas, where damage to mud houses was reported and crops were destroyed in several locations. Farmers stated that the rainfall resulted in losses, as b winds damaged standing crops.
Electricity department teams are active on the ground, working to repair damaged poles and restore power supply. Officials stated that restoration is being carried out on a priority basis, though normal conditions may take time to return in some areas.
Rainfall led to waterlogging on city roads, with drains overflowing and water accumulating in several areas. This caused difficulties for pedestrians and motorists. Market activity declined, affecting business operations.
The weather department has warned that similar conditions may persist over the next 24 to 48 hours, with the possibility of b winds, rainfall, and lightning. Residents have been advised to remain indoors during adverse weather and avoid standing near trees or electric poles.
The administration has issued an alert and kept relief and rescue teams prepared for immediate response. Residents have been urged to avoid rumours and follow official advisories.
Residents stated that while the weather change provided relief from heat, the extent of damage has increased concerns, particularly regarding power supply and traffic disruption. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as weather conditions remain under observation.
