The electricity bill relief scheme in Sultanpur has demonstrated a positive impact right from its inception. On the very first day of the scheme, a total of 466 consumers registered and cleared their outstanding dues across various divisions in the district. According to the department, a total of 27.05 lakh rupees have been recovered from these consumers.
This scheme is designed to offer relief to defaulting domestic and small commercial consumers. Consumers in the domestic category with up to two kilowatts and those in the commercial category with up to one kilowatt are eligible. Under the scheme, surcharges are being entirely waived. Furthermore, a 25 percent discount is offered on the outstanding amount for those who make a lump-sum payment. Consumers opting for installment payments will also receive relief ranging from 5 to 10 percent, depending on their monthly installment.
Special camps were organized at all 44 sub-centers across the district, allowing consumers to easily register and avail themselves of the benefits. The electricity department has appealed to the public to register in large numbers and settle their outstanding liabilities before the relief scheme's deadline expires.
