Sultanpur: The recent increase in railway fares by Indian Railways is clearly impacting passengers in Sultanpur. With the new rates now in effect, passengers traveling long distances are having to pay more than before.
According to information, fares have been increased for journeys exceeding 215 kilometers. The increase in Second Class Ordinary ranges from a few rupees to twenty rupees depending on the distance, while fares have also risen in air-conditioned classes, including Mail and Express trains. This is affecting the monthly budgets of regular commuters.
Passengers who arrived at the station to purchase tickets expressed their dissatisfaction with the fare hike. Passengers say that with existing inflationary pressures, the increase in fares has made travel even more expensive.
However, some passengers considered it a minor increase and deemed the railway’s decision acceptable.
Railway officials state that the new fare system has been implemented and tickets are being issued on all trains at these rates. Passengers are advised to check fare information before traveling.
