Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Court Notice Issued to Rhea Chakraborty on CBI Closure Report

Even though five years have passed since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the pain and questions of his fans remain the same. Millions still believe that Sushant's death was not a suicide, but the result of a deep conspiracy.

Entertainment: Five years after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the case has once again come into legal headlines. A magistrate court in Mumbai has issued a notice to actress Rhea Chakraborty. This notice has been sent in reference to the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), ordering Rhea to file her reply by August 12, 2025.

What is the matter?

On June 14, 2020, 34-year-old actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. This incident shook the entire country, and several investigating agencies became involved in the case. Bihar Police, Mumbai Police, Enforcement Directorate (ED), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and finally the CBI conducted a detailed investigation into the matter.

In 2025, the CBI filed a closure report stating that no concrete criminal evidence was found against anyone in Sushant's death case. Now, based on this report, the court has initiated the next process in the case.

Why Court Notice to Rhea Chakraborty?

The notice has been issued to Rhea Chakraborty on the CBI's closure report because she had made serious allegations against Sushant's sisters, Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh, in 2020. Rhea claimed that they had prescribed psychological medications for Sushant without a doctor's supervision or a valid medical procedure. Rhea also alleged that Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder and had stopped taking his medication, but was made to start consuming medicines based on a fake prescription sent by his sisters. She had filed an FIR in this matter, invoking sections of the IPC and NDPS Act.

Magistrate R. D. Chavan's court stated that the complainant should be given an opportunity to file an objection to the CBI's closure report. Therefore, a notice has been issued to Rhea, and she has to file her reply by August 12. The court has adjourned the proceedings until the notice is served.

This notice is part of the Indian judicial process, in which the concerned parties have the right to object to a closure report. If Rhea files a reply in court, the court will review the case further.

Sushant's Father's Allegations

Sushant Singh Rajput's father, K.K. Singh, also made serious allegations against Rhea Chakraborty and her family in 2020, including financial exploitation, mental harassment, and abetment to suicide. After this, the matter gained considerable momentum at the political and social levels as well. However, Rhea denied all these allegations and declared herself innocent.

According to the CBI report filed in March 2025, no direct evidence of abetment to suicide or murder was found against any of the accused. The report also stated that the circumstances of the scene, forensic evidence, and witness statements did not indicate any conspiracy.
