Gorakhpur. Patients admitted to BRD Medical College are currently facing difficulties in getting meals. Due to a shortage of utensils in the hospital, patients are unable to receive food. Several patients have been turned away by hospital staff, being told, “Bring your own utensils, only then will you get food.”
According to sources, approximately two hundred patients are admitted to the hospital daily, most of whom come from poor families. The hospital administration had instructed the contractor to ensure an adequate supply of disposable plates, bowls, and glasses so that no patient is deprived of food. Despite this, the contractor is disregarding these instructions.
In the absence of utensils, many patients are forced to spend the night without food, while the families of some have to buy disposable utensils from outside.
The Chief Medical Superintendent has stated that if the contractor or concerned staff are found to be negligent, an investigation will be conducted, and necessary action will be taken.
