The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take a significant step to further strengthen Ease of Doing Business in the state and promote industries. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the government is soon going to introduce the "Facilitation of Trade (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025".

Lucknow: The government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh is preparing to amend more than 11 laws, including those related to excise and forests. The Chief Minister's Office stated that the CM discussed the provisions of the 'Facilitation of Trade (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025' in a high-level meeting and gave necessary instructions. The Chief Minister said that taking new steps to further strengthen #EaseofDoingBusiness is the demand of the time. Along with this, industrial development must also ensure the guarantee of worker safety and convenience.

He also said that embracing the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Shramev Jayate' (Labor is paramount), such reforms should be made that prove beneficial for both workers and entrepreneurs.

CM Yogi's Major Statement

During a high-level meeting held in Lucknow, CM Yogi stated that it is the demand of the time to abolish unnecessary punitive provisions and implement a transparent and just system. He said that embracing the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Shramev Jayate," we need to make reforms that are beneficial for both workers and entrepreneurs.

CM Yogi instructed officials to prepare the draft of the "Facilitation of Trade (Amendment of Provisions) Bill" in such a way that it can establish a balance between the interests of industry and workers.

Which Laws Will Be Amended?

According to the information released by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the laws that will be amended under this new bill include:

  • Excise Act
  • Molasses Act
  • Tree Protection Act
  • Revenue Code
  • Sugarcane Act
  • Groundwater Act
  • Municipal Corporation Act
  • Plastic Waste Management Act
  • Cinema Act
  • District Panchayat Act

All these laws will be made more practical. Where there was a provision for imprisonment earlier, now more emphasis will be placed on financial penalties and administrative actions. CM Yogi Adityanath said that it is necessary to reduce the unnecessary burden on industries so that the investment climate in the state can improve further. At the same time, it is equally essential to ensure that the safety and rights of workers are guaranteed.
