Uttar Pradesh Records Rain in 16 Cities as Heatwave Alert Remains in 38 Districts

The weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh continues to fluctuate, with rainfall and drizzle recorded in 16 cities while a heatwave alert has been issued for 38 districts. In several areas, the maximum temperature has reached 43.3 degrees Celsius, causing intense heat and humidity.

According to the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon has remained sluggish near the Uttar Pradesh border for nearly two weeks. However, signs of renewed activity have emerged, and the monsoon is expected to advance further into the state over the coming days.

Several districts in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Pre-monsoon activity was observed in parts of Lucknow, Varanasi, Noida, Gorakhpur, Kanpur and nearby areas. The Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall and b winds in several districts over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Despite the rainfall, heat conditions continue across central Uttar Pradesh and the Bundelkhand region. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for 38 districts. Residents have been advised to avoid going outdoors during afternoon hours, drink sufficient water and take precautions against exposure to direct sunlight.

On the monsoon’s arrival, the Meteorological Department said its progress remains slow for now, but conditions are changing rapidly. Monsoon activity is becoming active around the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, and the system is expected to advance across several parts of the state between June 23 and June 25.

Across the country, the monsoon has regained momentum after a two-week slowdown. Meteorologists said its movement towards Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha could soon influence weather conditions in northern India.

For now, residents of Uttar Pradesh will need to prepare for both heat and rainfall. While rain is providing relief in some areas, intense sunshine and heatwave conditions continue to affect several districts. The Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the situation and issuing alerts from time to time.
