UP Sports Day 2025: The government has taken significant steps for the development of sports and athletes in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the opening of sports colleges in every division of the state while addressing athletes at a program organized on the birth anniversary of the hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand, on Friday. This move is a significant effort towards giving new direction to sporting talent and providing them with a better platform.
The Chief Minister stated that the environment for sports and athletes in the state is continuously improving. The interest of the youth in sports is growing, and the government is making every possible effort to hone their talent. He also mentioned that the sports department will prepare athletes for international levels through high-level facilities and coaches.
Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and Honouring Athletes
The program was organized at the Astroturf Ground of the Padma Shri Mohammad Shahid Stadium. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remembered Major Dhyan Chand's contribution while playing hockey and paid tribute to him.
Additionally, 88 athletes who have brought pride to the state at international and national levels were honored. Former Olympian athletes were also felicitated at the program. This initiative will serve as a source of inspiration for young athletes towards sports and will encourage them to compete at higher levels.
