Authorities have intensified the removal of affected structures under the road widening and urban redevelopment project in Varanasi's Daalmandi area. As part of the ongoing exercise, affected portions of five mosques, including the historically known Rangeele Shah Mosque, are also being removed. Around 50 workers have been deployed for the operation, which is being carried out under administrative supervision.

According to the administration, the action is being undertaken as part of the road widening project to improve traffic management in the highly congested Daalmandi locality. Officials said all affected structures falling within the project area are being dealt with in accordance with the prescribed procedures, irrespective of whether they are private buildings or other structures.

Security arrangements have been tightened in the area. Police personnel and administrative officials have been deployed during the operation to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. Movement of people in the surrounding area is also being regulated.

The administration said the action was initiated only after completing the prescribed procedures with the concerned parties. It stated that, upon completion of the project, traffic congestion in the Daalmandi area is expected to reduce, pedestrian convenience is expected to improve, and the movement of emergency vehicles is expected to become easier.

Meanwhile, local residents and concerned parties have expressed differing views on the action. Some have described it as a necessary step for the development of the city's infrastructure, while others have raised concerns regarding buildings of historical and religious significance. If any legal or administrative proceedings related to the matter remain pending, they will be resolved by the concerned authorities and through the judicial process.

Road widening work is currently continuing in Daalmandi, with affected structures being removed in phases. The administration said it is ensuring that the project is completed on schedule while maintaining law and order and complying with all required procedures.
