VHP Leader Milind Parande stated that the word 'secular' was not originally included in the Constitution. It was added during the Emergency without debate, which should now be discussed in society.
Maharashtra: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) National General Secretary Milind Parande stated during a program in Nagpur that the framers of the Constitution did not support including the word 'secular' in the Constitution. He said that this word was not present at the time of the Constitution's creation and was later added to Parliament without any discussion.
Discussion Held in the Constituent Assembly
Milind Parande explained that during the Constituent Assembly, there was a discussion on whether or not to include the word 'secular,' but no one, including Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Dr. Rajendra Prasad, supported it. According to him, the idea at that time was that the Constitution should not be bound by any ideology and should be created in an independent form.
Word Added During the Emergency
The VHP leader said that words like 'secular' and 'socialist' were added during the Emergency under the 42nd Amendment. At that time, the normal parliamentary process was suspended, and there was no open debate. He said that adding words to the Constitution in this way was not a proper process and that this should be discussed in society today.
Need for Democratic Discussion
Milind Parande says that it is necessary to have an open discussion in society and Parliament regarding words like 'secular' so that it is clear whether they were properly added to the Constitution. He also said that a dialogue has begun on this subject in the country today, and if this discussion progresses, it will go in the right direction.
Conspiracy to Divide Hindu Society
Milind Parande alleged that some forces are conspiring to pit Hindu society against each other. He said that young people are being distanced from their traditions by spreading false information about Hindu religion and its festivals. He also said that confusion is being spread through social media, and attempts are being made to create divisions within Hindu society.
Atrocities Happening in Bangladesh and Some States
Parande said that atrocities are being committed against Hindus in some states of the country and in Bangladesh today. He claimed that in some places, Hindus are being denied citizenship. He said that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad is trying to get Indian citizenship for all such Hindus, and the organization is supporting them.
