Viture has launched the Vonder smart glasses, designed for everyday use and privacy. The glasses do not feature a camera or display and do not support always-on audio recording. Instead, Vonder uses AI and audio recording to convert voice into text and memory. Pre-orders in the US will begin on September 28.
The Vonder smart glasses have been designed with an appearance similar to conventional eyewear. They do not include a camera, display or always-on audio recording feature. According to the company, this design helps keep their weight at around 30 grams. The glasses include microphones, chips, buttons and speakers.
Vonder is available with different frame designs, colours and finishes. Users can also choose prescription lenses according to their requirements. The glasses support progressive and transition lenses.
Vonder features an AI system called Vonder Personal Memory Graph. It can record and process the user's voice and convert information into text and memory. The system can also be used for tasks such as taking notes and making hands-free calls.
According to the company, the glasses record audio only when instructed by the user. During normal use, they identify and record only the user's voice. During a meeting, the user can activate Meeting Mode using a physical switch. When the mode is turned on, an LED indicator lights up, and the glasses can record the voices of people present at the meeting separately.
According to Viture, Vonder does not permanently store recorded audio. After the audio is converted into text and memory, the original recording is deleted. The company has also claimed to provide financial-grade encryption security in the smart glasses.
Users will be able to select other AI models, including Gemini, Claude and ChatGPT, through the Vonder app. This will allow different AI services to be used with the smart glasses.
Pre-orders for the Vonder smart glasses in the US will begin on September 28. The starting price is $299, while the price may increase with customization. Customers will be able to pre-order the glasses through the Vonder website or Best Buy stores. The company will begin shipping the smart glasses in November.
Customers outside the US can currently register their interest in the smart glasses.
