A sense of panic gripped the Sadhaura area of Yamunanagar district in Haryana on Friday evening when a police encounter with two wanted criminals unfolded. During the encounter in Asgarpur village, both criminals sustained gunshot wounds and were immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital in Jagadhri. The incident has created an atmosphere of tension in the area, and police have initiated an investigation.
Criminals Opened Fire Upon Being Surrounded
According to sources, Yamunanagar police received intelligence that two wanted criminals were going to pass through Asgarpur village. A special police team immediately took action and cordoned off the area near the village. As soon as the criminals realized they were surrounded, they opened fire on the police. In retaliatory fire, the police shot both of them in the legs. Both were taken into custody in injured condition and sent to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
Criminals Identified
The arrested criminals have been identified as Vikas Ali alias Jwala (resident of village Sarawan) and Deepak (resident of village Kanipala), both from the Sadhaura police station area. Police have also recovered a motorcycle and illegal weapons from the encounter site, which the criminals used to attack the police. A climate of fear prevails in Asgarpur village following this action. Local residents are afraid to even step out of their homes.
Heavy Police Force Deployed in the Area
A large contingent of police personnel has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incidents following the event. The investigation of the case is underway under the supervision of senior officers. A joint team of Sadhaura police station and the crime branch is now engaged in piecing together the network and criminal history of the criminals. The police are also trying to find out who else these criminals were in contact with and who else might be connected to this network.
