An encounter occurred between the police and criminals late Friday night on the Dholera-Radour highway in Yamunanagar. Notorious criminal Rajat Kumar, a resident of Shergarh, was killed, while SI Rakesh Kumar of CIA-2 was injured by a gunshot.
Yamunanagar: An encounter between the police and criminals late Friday night in Haryana's Yamunanagar district caused a sensation throughout the area. In this operation, which took place on the Dholera-Radour new highway, wanted criminal Rajat Kumar, a resident of Shergarh, was killed, while Sub-Inspector Rakesh Kumar of CIA-2 Yamunanagar was injured by a gunshot. The injured officer is currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.
Criminal Rajat had been absconding for a long time
According to Yamunanagar police sources, Rajat Kumar was wanted in several criminal cases and had been on the police's lookout for a long time. On Friday night, the CIA team received confidential information about his location, following which a special barricade was set up on the highway.
As the police team attempted to stop him, Rajat suddenly began firing shots. The police also retaliated with gunfire in self-defense. In this encounter, the criminal was gunned down on the spot. Cases under serious charges such as murder, robbery, and illegal possession of weapons were registered against him.
Police Officer Also Injured
During the encounter, Sub-Inspector Rakesh Kumar of the CIA-2 team sustained a gunshot wound. The bullet passed through near his shoulder, and he was immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital. Doctors stated that his condition is out of danger and he is gradually recovering.
Upon receiving information about the incident, SP Yamunanagar Kamaldeeep Goyal himself reached the hospital to inquire about the injured officer's condition. He also instructed that there should be no shortcomings in his treatment.
Security Increased in the Area After the Incident
Following the incident, in view of the tense situation in the area, the police deployed additional forces at the hospital and the encounter site. Throughout the night, barricades were set up on roads, and vehicles were checked. The police stated that this action has created an atmosphere of fear among criminals and reassured the general public of their safety.
SP Kamaldeeep Goyal stated that the police team was fully alert, and the retaliatory action was taken in self-defense. He also clarified that no innocent person was harmed, and strict measures would continue to be taken to maintain law and order.
Gunfire Also in Kurukshetra
Just a few hours after the Yamunanagar encounter, an encounter also occurred between the CIA-1 team and criminals in Kurukshetra district. This incident took place near Sonti village, where a wanted accused was injured in the police's retaliatory action.
According to police records, this is the same criminal who was involved in shooting incidents at liquor vends in Ladwa and Yamunanagar. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been declared for his capture, and the police had been searching for him for a long time. The injured criminal has been admitted to the hospital, while the search for his other associates continues.
