He filed this petition to quash the FIR registered against him under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad.

Sports News: Indian cricketer Yash Dayal has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court regarding the sexual harassment case filed against him. He has requested the court to quash the FIR filed under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This matter has now become legally high-profile, and the entire country is watching the court proceedings closely.

What is the whole case?

On July 6, 2025, an FIR was filed against cricketer Yash Dayal at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad, based on a complaint of sexual harassment lodged by a woman. The FIR was registered under Section 69 of the BNS, which provides for severe penalties and strict legal action for offenses such as sexual harassment.

As soon as the matter came to light, it became a media sensation, and now Yash Dayal, denying the allegations against him, has filed a petition in the High Court.

What has been filed in the High Court?

In his petition, Yash Dayal has made the Uttar Pradesh government, the Indirapuram police station in-charge, and the complainant woman respondents. He has demanded that the FIR be quashed, calling it pre-planned and malicious. According to sources, the petition may be heard soon by a double bench. If the court issues any interim order in favor of Yash Dayal, it could be a significant relief for his image and career.

Amidst the controversy, Yash Dayal has also filed a complaint against the woman for blackmailing at the Khuldabad police station in Prayagraj. He has given a written complaint in which he has alleged that the woman is demanding money by falsely implicating him in a case and is causing him mental harassment. In his complaint, he has also stated that the woman has threatened to defame him and ruin his career. Yash Dayal has demanded a fair investigation by the Prayagraj police and has requested strict action.

What is Section 69 of the BNS?

It is noteworthy that Section 69 in the recently implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been included for cases related to sexual offenses. This section imposes strict penalties, such as imprisonment, strict bail conditions, and social stigma in cases of sexual harassment. Legal experts say that if the court deems the FIR correct, Yash Dayal could face arrest or a long legal process. On the other hand, if the FIR is proven to be false and malicious, legal action is also possible against the complainant woman.
