UP News: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a historic decision to rename five government engineering colleges in the state. This change is not just about names but also an effort to connect technical education with cultural and national consciousness. This decision has also been approved by the Governor and Chancellor of Universities, Anandiben Patel.
Initiative to Connect Technical Education with Inspiration
The state government believes that associating educational institutions with great personalities and local deities will not only enhance the technical skills of students but also provide them with an opportunity to draw inspiration from the country's history and great individuals.
Colleges That Have Been Renamed
The government engineering colleges in five districts of the state—Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Basti, Gonda, and Mainpuri—have now received new identities. The new names of these colleges are as follows:
1. Pratapgarh: This college will now be known as Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Engineering College. Baba Saheb is considered the architect of the constitution and a symbol of social justice. His name will give students a message of justice, equality, and dedication.
2. Mirzapur: The engineering college here will now be called Samrat Ashok Government Engineering College. Emperor Ashoka is known as a promoter of Buddhism and a messenger of peace in the world. His name will strengthen the spirit of humanity and service in the students.
3. Basti: The college in this district will now be Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Government Engineering College. Sardar Patel is called the architect of the country's unity. Students will draw inspiration for national unity and duty from his name.
4. Gonda: This college will now be recognized as Maa Pateshwari Devi Government Engineering College. Pateshwari Devi holds a special place in the local faith of the region. This name will also give impetus to connection with local culture and spiritual inspiration.
5. Mainpuri: The college here will now be known as Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Government Engineering College. Devi Ahilya Bai is remembered as a just and public servant administrator. Her name will inspire students for service and ethical leadership.
Role of the Governor and Technical Education Minister
Uttar Pradesh's Technical Education Minister, Ashish Kumar Patel, sent this proposal to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on May 21. After this, the proposal was sent to the Governor. Now, this proposal has been approved by Governor Anandiben Patel. Special Secretary Vinod Kumar provided information about the order. He said that this decision is an important step towards enhancing the dignity of technical education and making institutions centers of inspiration.
Students Will Get Connected with a Glorious History
The government believes that these names will not only strengthen the identity of the colleges but also that students, by learning from the biographies of these great personalities, will adopt high values in their careers and social lives. This will not only improve the quality of education but also strengthen the spirit of nation-building in the students.
Coordination of Folk Culture and National Consciousness
The renaming of colleges in districts like Gonda and Mainpuri after local deities is an attempt to recognize local traditions and faith. This will also strengthen the feeling of attachment and pride towards education in these areas.
