A shooting occurred between two youths in front of the Maneer police station in Patna. The injured youth was referred to PMCH after primary treatment. The accused fled the scene, and the police are investigating the matter.
Patna: In Bihar, a youth was shot by another youth in the lane of High School in the Maneer police station area, adjacent to Patna, on Thursday afternoon. After being shot, the injured youth fled to the police station, and Maneer Station House Officer Pradeep Kumar immediately sent him to the Sub-divisional Hospital, Danapur, in a police vehicle. After initial treatment, the youth was referred to PMCH for better medical care.
The incident took place around 12 noon. Following the shooting, the area was thrown into a state of panic, with people gathering at the scene. Police arrived at the spot and began their investigation.
One youth fired at another with a pistol
According to eyewitnesses, two youths were conversing in the lane of High School. During their conversation, an argument broke out between them, and one youth took out a pistol and fired at the other. After being shot, the assailant fled on a motorcycle.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras. In the video, both youths are seen wearing black shirts. The injured youth has been identified as Rahul Kumar, the 22-year-old son of Ritesh Kumar.
Police recovered evidence from the scene
The police recovered a spent cartridge from the scene. This evidence could prove crucial in the further investigation. A large crowd had gathered in the area after the shooting.
Upon receiving information, Patna City Superintendent of Police (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh also arrived at the scene with his team and inspected the location. He stated that the FSL team is collecting evidence and the CCTV footage is being reviewed.
Police have initiated action
The police are conducting raids to search for the culprits. The Superintendent added that the actual cause of the incident will only be known after the arrest of the shooter.
During the investigation, the police are gathering all possible clues. The official appealed to the local public not to believe any rumors and to allow the police to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter.
