Zelensky Rejects Putin's Moscow Meeting Offer, Calls for Talks in Kyiv

Ukraine's President Zelensky Rejects Putin's Moscow Invitation. Says, "Will Not Go to the Capital of a Terrorist". Putin Should Come to Kyiv to Meet. Russia Proposed Peace Talks, But the Situation is Currently Complex.

Moscow Meeting: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has outright rejected the offer from Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet in Moscow. Zelensky stated that he "cannot go to the capital of a terrorist". However, he also said that if Putin wishes to hold discussions with him, Putin can come to Kyiv.

Russia had invited Zelensky to discuss a peace agreement. This proposal came after the initiatives of U.S. President Donald Trump and other Western leaders, who were advocating for a face-to-face dialogue between the two leaders.

Putin Sent Invitation to Meet in Moscow

In recent times, Russian attacks on various Ukrainian cities have intensified. Amidst this, Putin invited Zelensky for peace talks in Moscow. Zelensky confirmed in Paris during a conference that he had received an invitation from Putin, but he also added that this invitation should not be conditional on visiting a terrorist capital.

The Kremlin's spokesperson clarified that the invitation was for a discussion (discussion), not for surrender. This situation has complicated the negotiation process.

American Pressure and International Reaction

The United States is placing significant importance on direct dialogue between Zelensky and Putin. Trump recently stated that Zelensky could meet Putin after his European tour and visit to the United States. However, Moscow has imposed certain conditions, which have prevented any decisive meeting from occurring so far.

Recent Escalating Attacks on Ukraine

Zelensky shared information on social media stating that in the first five days of September, Russia launched over 1300 drones, 900 guided bombs, and approximately 50 different types of missiles on Ukraine. These attacks have affected 14 regions of Ukraine.

Zelensky maintains that these attacks are clearly aimed at causing damage to civilians and infrastructure. He has appealed to the international community to halt Russia's aggression and protect Ukraine's sovereignty.

Challenges to Peace Talks

Zelensky has made it clear that he will not go to a terrorist capital under any circumstances. This stance has created new dynamics between Russia and Western leaders. Experts believe that genuine talks for a ceasefire agreement will only be possible when both parties engage in unconditional dialogue.

Furthermore, Western countries are emphasizing the need to arrange safe and impartial negotiations between Zelensky and Putin. This effort is crucial for making the ongoing ceasefire in Ukraine effective and establishing lasting peace in the future.
