Jagmeet Singh's Anti-India NDP Suffers Crushing Defeat in 2025 Canadian Election, Winning Only 12 Seats and Losing National Status; Singh Resigns.

Canada Election: Jagmeet Singh, considered anti-India and pro-Khalistan, faced a crushing defeat in the 2025 Canadian general elections. His New Democratic Party (NDP) failed to win even 12 seats, resulting in the loss of its national party status. Following this, Jagmeet Singh resigned as NDP leader.

Election Results: Jagmeet Singh's Defeat

Singh had hoped to win a third term from the Burnaby Central seat in British Columbia. However, he lost to Liberal candidate Wade Chang. Singh received approximately 27 percent of the vote, while Chang secured over 40 percent.

NDP's Significant Losses

This defeat resulted in the NDP losing its national party status. Parties require a minimum of 12 seats to maintain this status, a goal the NDP failed to achieve. Meanwhile, the Liberal Party secured a majority with 165 seats, leading to Singh's electoral defeat.

Singh's Statement

Following the defeat, Singh posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "I know this is a disappointing night for New Democrats. But we lose when we trust those who can’t show us the dream of a better Canada.” He expressed no disappointment with his movement, though he regretted the party's failure to win more seats.

Trudeau Also Suffers Defeat

Similar to Jagmeet Singh, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also faced defeat in this election, paving the way for a Liberal Party government. Previously, the NDP had won 24 seats, which had supported Trudeau's government.
