Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, in a recent interview, subtly criticized Shah Rukh Khan, stating that people now attribute his songs solely to Shah Rukh Khan. He also openly discussed his experiences with Sanātana Dharma and Bollywood. Read his full statement.

Entertainment Desk: Renowned singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is once again in the news. This time, it's due to an interview where he indirectly took a jibe at superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Abhijeet and Shah Rukh shared a successful collaboration throughout the 1990s and 2000s, producing many hit songs; however, their relationship is no longer what it once was.

What did Abhijeet say about Shah Rukh Khan?

In an interview with ANI, Abhijeet Bhattacharya stated, “There’s no special relationship between Shah Rukh and me. We’ve met a couple of times, just a hello-hi kind of interaction. I’ve spent more time talking to you right now than I ever have with Shah Rukh.” He further added, 'Now, I feel that the songs I sang aren't mine, they're Shah Rukh's. Shah Rukh sang the song, the music is Shah Rukh's, the film is Shah Rukh's. Even the cinematographer is the same. Everything is Shah Rukh, so what am I supposed to do?'

Citing the example of the film Chalte Chalte, Abhijeet mentioned that while the film was average, the songs were superhit. He clarified that nowadays, people believe these songs also belong to Shah Rukh, as if the singer had no contribution whatsoever.

A Broken Partnership Despite Hit Songs

Abhijeet Bhattacharya has sung many memorable songs for Shah Rukh Khan, including “Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main,” “Touba Tumhare Yeh Ishare,” “Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai,” and “Badshah O Badshah.” These songs significantly contributed to both their careers, yet their professional relationship deteriorated over time.

Statement on Sanātana Dharma

During the interview, Abhijeet also shared his views on Sanātana Dharma. He said, "Nowadays, Sanātana Dharma is being reviled. But I thank God that people are now understanding that we are Sanātani.” He added, 'There's a difference between Hindu and Sanātani, which I don't know. Just as I don't get my parents' DNA tested, similarly, I know who God is; I don't need to read the Puranas for that. Those who are insulting Sanātana Dharma are Hindus themselves.'

Abhijeet, a Singer Drifting Away from the Industry?

Abhijeet Bhattacharya is known for his outspoken nature and frank opinions. He has previously commented on 'factionalism' and 'nepotism' in Bollywood. His recent interview clearly indicates a certain level of disappointment regarding his recognition within the industry.
