Entertainment Desk: After the success of 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter', Neeraj Pandey has delivered another explosive police thriller in the form of 'Khakee: The Bengal Chapter'. Released on Netflix on March 20th, the series features Jit, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ritwik Bhowmik in leading roles. The story revolves around crime, politics, and the conflict within the police force.

A Unique Interplay of Bengal's Politics and Crime

The series' narrative begins with Bagha Da (Saswata Chatterjee), who employs dangerous tactics to consolidate his power. Simultaneously, IPS officer Sapta Rishi (Parambrata Chatterjee) fights against crime, but his untimely death sends shockwaves through the city. Meanwhile, another honest police officer, Arjun Maitra (Jit), enters the fray, ready to confront politician Barun Das (Prosenjit Chatterjee) and the criminals.

Strong Direction and Screenplay

Directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, the series is technically impressive. The cinematography and background score enhance the narrative. However, the script includes some unnecessary scenes, which might make the story seem slightly slow-paced at times. Despite this, the powerful action sequences and impactful dialogues keep the viewers engaged.

Strong Performances by the Cast

The series' biggest strength lies in its casting. Bengali superstar Jit delivers a stellar performance in his Hindi debut. Prosenjit Chatterjee excels as a corrupt politician. Ritwik Bhowmik and Adil Hussain also shine in their respective roles. Saswata Chatterjee is as compelling as ever, while Chitrangda Singh's performance is somewhat average.

If you enjoy political crime thrillers, 'Khakee: The Bengal Chapter' is sure to appeal to you. While the story doesn't offer much that's entirely new, the powerful dialogues, action, and excellent performances make it engaging. The series can be rated 3 out of 5 stars. It is available to stream on Netflix.
