Entertainment: The YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner, Elvish Yadav, who constantly remains a topic of discussion on social media, recently apologized for his casteist remarks. A complaint was filed against him, leading to a summons to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW). Following the summons, Elvish Yadav appeared at the NCW office and apologized, acknowledging his mistakes.
This incident stemmed from a larger controversy where he made controversial and casteist remarks about actress Chum Darang during a podcast. Elvish Yadav, a well-known YouTuber and social media influencer, has been embroiled in several controversies recently. These have ranged from an incident involving snake venom at his party, accusations of hooliganism and assault in public places, to his often insensitive statements.
However, this is not the first time he has expressed regret for his statements. This time, the summons from the National Commission for Women prompted a public apology for his casteist remarks.
Elvish Yadav's Statement
On Monday, Elvish Yadav spoke to the media outside the NCW office. He stated that he now understands that his words were offensive to many and that he expressed himself incorrectly. He apologized, acknowledging that if anyone was hurt by his words, he accepts it as a learning experience.
Elvish Yadav told the media, "As we grow older, our understanding and maturity increase. My words were misinterpreted and hurt many people. I think I said something wrong, for which I apologize." He then specifically apologized to Chum Darang, stating that he harbors no hatred towards anyone and had no intention of personal animosity.
"'Chum's name itself sounds obscene" - Elvish
Following this statement, Elvish Yadav further clarified that he never intended to harm anyone. He considered the entire incident a learning experience and promised not to repeat such a mistake. Earlier, during a podcast in February, Elvish Yadav had mocked Chum Darang.
He had said that Chum's name itself sounds obscene and her role in the film "Gangubai Kathiawadi" was also a source of mockery. Elvish later removed the video from social media, but by then it had gone viral. Chum Darang subsequently posted on Instagram expressing her objection.
She wrote, "Disrespecting someone's identity and name is not funny. It wasn't just a joke on my ethnicity and hard work, but also an insult to a great filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali."
