Bihar Cabinet Approves 27 Proposals, Including Salary Hikes for Ministers

Bihar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted a significant raise to his ministers ahead of the election year. According to an order issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Department, the salaries and allowances of state ministers and deputy ministers have been substantially increased. This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where a total of 27 proposals were approved.

Monthly Salary ₹65,000 and Constituency Allowance ₹70,000

The monthly salary of Bihar ministers has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹65,000, while the constituency allowance has been raised from ₹55,000 to ₹70,000. The daily allowance has also been increased from ₹3,000 to ₹3,500.

Increased Hospitality and Travel Allowances

The hospitality allowance for ministers has also been increased. State ministers will now receive ₹29,500, up from ₹24,000, and deputy ministers will receive ₹29,000, up from ₹23,500. A significant change has been made to the travel allowance, which has been increased from ₹15 per kilometer to ₹25 per kilometer.

Government Rationale: A Step Towards Enhanced Efficiency

The state government maintains that this step has been taken to enable ministers to perform their duties more effectively without facing financial constraints. This, they argue, will not only enhance their efficiency but also accelerate the state's development initiatives.
