Bihar: A fatal road accident occurred in Buxar district on Tuesday morning, resulting in one death and four serious injuries. The accident happened when a Bolero, speeding in the opposite direction, collided with an Alto car carrying pilgrims returning to Chhapra from the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.
Details of the Accident
Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, near Chausa Gola in the Mufassil police station area of Buxar district, pilgrims were returning from the Kumbh Mela in their Alto car when a speeding Bolero collided head-on with their vehicle. The impact was so severe that the Alto was severely damaged. The driver of the Alto, 54-year-old Dhirendra Singh, died at the scene. Four others in the car sustained serious injuries: the deceased's wife, Neetu Devi; Ashok Singh; Ravindra Pandey; and his wife, Usha Devi.
Following the accident, the injured called emergency services on 112. Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene. All the injured were taken to the Community Health Center for initial treatment before being referred to Buxar Sadar Hospital for advanced medical care. Their condition is currently reported to be stable.
Bolero Driver Flees the Scene
The Bolero driver and other occupants fled the scene after the accident. Police have initiated efforts to locate the driver based on the Bolero's registration number. Preliminary investigations suggest the Bolero driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the accident. Police are conducting a thorough investigation and searching for the fleeing suspects.
Police Statement
Mufassil police station head, Arvind Kumar, confirmed the accident, stating that one person died and four others were seriously injured. Police have seized the Bolero and sent the body for post-mortem. The damaged vehicles have been removed from the road to prevent further traffic disruptions.
Arvind Kumar further stated, "Information has been received that the airbags in the Bolero deployed, but the driver and all passengers fled the scene. Police are receiving information that the fleeing individuals are injured and have sought treatment elsewhere. We are searching for them."
