Congress Takes Strong Action After Poor Turnout at Kharge's Buxar Rally

The Congress party has taken b action following the poor attendance at a rally addressed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge in Buxar, suspending the district president, Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey, with immediate effect. The decision comes in response to the sparsely attended rally and internal party strife.

Bihar Politics: Mallikarjun Kharge's rally, held in Dalsagar, Buxar district, last Sunday, saw extremely low public participation. 80-90 percent of the seats remained empty, disappointing organizers. Although the rally was held in a sports ground eight kilometers from the district headquarters, most people did not attend. Organizers had significantly overestimated the turnout; fewer than 500 people were present.

Congress District President Suspended

Party leadership took serious action regarding the poor turnout, suspending Buxar's Congress district president, Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey. He had recently been appointed to the post for a second term. The party attributed the decision to an internal review and Pandey's performance.

Questions Raised About Congress Leaders and MLAs

Congress holds two of Buxar district's four assembly seats. The roles of MLAs Sanjay Kumar Tiwari (Sadar constituency) and Vishwanath Ram (Rajpur constituency) in the rally are being questioned. Accusations allege their participation was minimal. While Sadar MLA Sanjay Tiwari attributed the low attendance to intense heat, questions remain about the party's popularity among the general public.

Internal Factionalism and Disputes Within the Party

Factionalism has long plagued the Congress party. These internal disputes were openly evident at the rally. The silence of some senior Congress leaders regarding the event further highlighted the party's internal divisions and weaknesses. The situation reflects factionalism at the state level, with questions raised about the performance of leaders overseeing the event.

Alliance Partners Distance Themselves

Congress's alliance partners in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML), largely stayed away from the event. Except for RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, no major leader was seen on stage. Furthermore, RJD MLA Shambhu Nath Singh Yadav and CPI-ML MLA Ajit Kumar were also absent, further weakening the party's position.
