Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal Warn of Ayodhya-like Movement if Aurangzeb's Tomb Remains

Aurangzeb Makbara Row: Tensions are rising in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, over the demand to remove the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Hindu organizations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, have intensified their calls for its demolition. They threaten an "Ayodhya-style Kar Seva" (religious procession) if the government does not remove the tomb.

In response to the escalating situation, the administration has deployed a heavy police force in Sambhajinagar to maintain security. Protests are being staged by Hindu organizations outside the offices of district officials and tehsildars.

T Raja Singh's Statement

Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh, during a program in Pune, stated, "The Hindus of Maharashtra want Aurangzeb's tomb erased. My only resolution now is to make India a Hindu nation and remove Aurangzeb's tomb."

He described Aurangzeb as a cruel ruler who massacred millions of Hindus and destroyed thousands of temples, arguing that his tomb's preservation is unjustified.

Bajrang Dal's Opposition

Nitin Mahajan, Sambhajinagar head of the Bajrang Dal, asserted that Aurangzeb destroyed numerous religious sites, including temples in Kashi and Mathura. He warned that if the government fails to remove the tomb, they will do it themselves, referencing the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

Abu Azmi's Statement Exacerbates the Controversy

Recent comments by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi, referring to Aurangzeb as a "capable ruler," ignited further controversy in Maharashtra. Azmi claimed Aurangzeb destroyed both temples and mosques. Facing b opposition, he later retracted his statement.

Supriya Sule's Response

NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule stated that this issue is not about any political party but is rooted in history. She urged the Maharashtra government to consult historians before making any decisions on the matter.
