Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a 55% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees. A 3% increase will be effective from July 1, 2024, and a further 2% increase from January 1, 2025. Arrears will be paid from June 2025.

DA Hike: Good news for Madhya Pradesh government employees! Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a DA hike for approximately seven lakh state employees. This increase aligns the state's DA with that of central government employees, providing much-needed relief. Let's explore the benefits and key details of this increase.

55% DA Announced: Significant Relief for Employees

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the DA for Madhya Pradesh government employees will be increased to 55%. This increase includes a 3% increment effective July 1, 2024, and a further 2% increase effective January 1, 2025. This benefits state government employees who were previously receiving a 50% DA.

Arrear Payment: Benefits in Five Installments

This announcement also includes arrears for the increased DA. These arrears will be paid in five equal installments between June and October 2025, providing employees with financial relief during the Diwali festival.

Why Was This Demand Important?

The central government had already increased the DA for its employees. Therefore, this increase was crucial for Madhya Pradesh employees to reduce the disparity in DA between state and central government employees. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took this step to fulfill a long-standing demand of the employees.

Pensioners to Also Benefit

Furthermore, a 5% increase in dearness relief is planned for state pensioners. Agreement from the Chhattisgarh state government is being sought, after which pensioners will also receive this benefit.

Benefits for Employees

This increase will provide significant financial benefits across various employee categories. This is a substantial step for the employee workforce, strengthening their financial position. Additionally, the pre-Diwali disbursement of arrears will provide extra relief during the festive season.
