Delhi News: Starting April 28th, senior citizens aged 70 and above in Delhi will receive Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). This card will enable Delhi's elderly to receive free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh.
To avail this scheme, senior citizens will receive ₹5 lakh worth of treatment from Ayushman Bharat, and an additional ₹5 lakh in health insurance will be provided by the Delhi government. This card will provide significant relief to senior citizens in managing their healthcare expenses.
Who will receive the Vaya Vandana card?
The Ayushman Vaya Vandana card will be given to senior citizens residing in Delhi who are 70 years of age or older. Under this card, senior citizens will receive up to ₹10 lakh for medical treatment; ₹5 lakh from the Ayushman Bharat scheme and ₹5 lakh from the Delhi government. This scheme will be highly beneficial for senior citizens, especially those commonly afflicted with ailments such as asthma, blood pressure issues, kidney problems, heart disease, and cataracts.
Which diseases will be covered?
This card will cover treatment for various diseases, including cataract surgery, heart disease, kidney problems, and asthma. Approximately six lakh senior citizens in Delhi are eligible to benefit from this scheme.
Where and how to register?
Registration for this scheme will commence on April 28th. Senior citizens can register at their nearest district offices. An Aadhaar card is mandatory, and elected representatives will also assist with the registration process. Each senior citizen will receive a unique health card containing their complete health record.
When will the cards be distributed?
On April 28th, a program will be held at Delhi's Thyagraj Stadium to distribute Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards to senior citizens. This card will provide senior citizens with improved access to healthcare, enhancing their quality of life.
