Donald Trump advised Zelensky not to attack Moscow. He warned of a 100% tariff on Russia and called the war a ‘Biden war’.
Trump: President Donald Trump has distanced himself from reports that he incited Ukraine to launch deep attacks within Russia. He said that ending the war quickly is his priority, not supporting any particular side.
Preventing Zelensky from attacking Moscow
Former US President Donald Trump recently responded to media reports claiming that he encouraged Ukraine to attack Moscow, the Russian capital. Trump dismissed the claims, stating that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should not take any action that would further inflame the conflict.
‘I am not on any side, I am with humanity’
Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, Trump clarified that his aim is not to support any country. He said, "I am not on anyone's side. I am on the side of humanity, because I want the number of deaths in this war between Russia and Ukraine to stop." He also added that his priority is to stop the war and establish peace, not military expansion or ensuring the victory of any side.
Called the Russia-Ukraine crisis the ‘Biden war’
Trump called the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine the 'Biden war'. He said that if he were the President of the United States, this war would have ended by now. He claims that the current US leadership's weakness has prolonged the crisis. He said, "I have ended many global conflicts and my effort will be to get America out of this war."
Also expressed displeasure with Putin
Donald Trump also expressed his displeasure with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that he had hoped Putin would find a way to end the war with Ukraine, but that did not happen. According to Trump, he is disappointed that Putin has not taken any positive steps so far.
Threat of tariffs on Russia
To put pressure on Russia, Trump also announced a new strategy. He said that Russia should be given a 50-day deadline for a ceasefire. If Russia does not agree to a ceasefire within this time, it will face 100% tariffs and strict economic sanctions.
Clarification on aid to Ukraine
Recently, the Pentagon stopped the supply of weapons to Ukraine for some time. Talking about this issue, Trump clarified that billions of dollars worth of American-made weapons will soon be sent to NATO allies.
Speaking to the media in the Oval Office with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, Trump said that the US is completely clear about its role. Its goal is to end the conflict and achieve regional stability.
