Eight Killed as Bolero SUV Plunges into River in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh

MP News: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh. A Bolero SUV veered off control and plunged into a river near Simri village on the Banwar road, under the jurisdiction of Nohata police station. This accident resulted in the deaths of eight people, including five women and a child. Over half a dozen others sustained serious injuries.

Passengers from Belkhera, Jabalpur

According to reports, all passengers were residents of the Belkhera area of Jabalpur district and were returning after collecting cancer medication. The Bolero SUV was carrying more than twelve occupants. Upon receiving information about the accident, police and administrative teams rushed to the scene and admitted the injured to the district hospital.

How Did the Accident Happen?

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred around 11 am on Tuesday when the Bolero SUV suddenly skidded and fell from the bridge over the Sonnar River near Simri. The impact was so severe that several people died at the scene.

Rescue Teams Arrive on the Scene

Damoh Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar and Superintendent of Police Shrut Kirti Somvanshi arrived at the scene immediately after receiving news of the incident. Rescue operations commenced promptly. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and treatment for the injured is underway.

Investigation Launched into Safety Measures in Bolero

Police have launched an investigation into the matter. They are examining whether the vehicle had any technical faults or if the accident was due to driver error. The accident has once again raised questions about the safety measures on rural roads.
