Namo Bharat Train: Indian Railways is taking a historic step to accelerate Bihar's rail travel. The long-awaited demand of millions of passengers in the state is about to be fulfilled. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present Bihar with a new gift on April 24th by flagging off the state-of-the-art Namo Bharat Express (also known as Vande Metro). This train will run from Patna to Jaynagar via Mokama, Darbhanga, and Madhubani, providing significant relief to North Bihar's commuters.
Train Set Arrives at Rajendranagar
The first glimpse of this high-tech train was seen on Sunday when its rake arrived at the Rajendranagar Coaching Complex railway yard in Danapur division. With its attractive white and blue body, this train is not only modern in appearance but also prioritizes passenger comfort. According to railway officials, trials will begin shortly. Its technology is similar to Vande Bharat, but it is also suitable for urban and suburban areas, like a metro.
Historic Inauguration on April 24th
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a large public gathering in Jhanjharpur, Madhubani district, on April 24th. During this event, he will flag off the Namo Bharat Express. His visit also includes the foundation stone laying and inauguration of several other projects, including the Amrit Bharat train from Saharsa to Mumbai and a new express train between Saharsa and Supaul.
Northeastern Bihar has historically lagged in rail connectivity. Travel between Patna, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Jaynagar has been challenging for passengers, with limited train services, overcrowding, and significant time delays being common problems. The Namo Bharat Express will address these issues. It will not only be faster but also offer modern amenities such as comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, automatic doors, CCTV security, and infotainment.
Extensive Railway Preparations
To ensure the successful operation of this mega-project, East Central Railway has trained teams of loco pilots and technical personnel. All safety standards will be checked before the trial run. Preparations for the inauguration are underway under the supervision of senior railway officials. A railway official stated that the train will cover the journey from Patna to Jaynagar in approximately 5 to 6 hours, significantly less than traditional trains.
This train is seen not just as a mode of transport, but as a symbol of Bihar's accelerated development. It will benefit not only passengers but also those involved in trade, education, and healthcare. Districts like Darbhanga and Madhubani, considered the cultural capitals of Mithila, will be more easily connected to the capital, Patna. Border areas like Jaynagar will also become better integrated, facilitating access to the Nepal border.

The Namo Bharat Express is part of the Vande Bharat family, designed for metro and short-distance travel. It's successfully operating in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana, and now Bihar will receive this gift.
